Lanny Sherwin created Sandman Records in 2001 as a creative alternative to traditional children’s lullabies and music. Sherwin discovered that conventional lullabies did not lull his three-year-old son, Alec, calmly to sleep. Worse, the “sugary sweet” melodies drove him, and other parents, to distraction. Determined to find an alternative, he founded Sandman Records with the motto of “Don’t Drive Parents Crazy,” and wrote 10 songs that were released as Dream With Me Tonight—Lullabies For All Ages CD (featuring former Asylum Records artist, Melodie Crittenden). An instant success, he released a second CD, Dream With Me Tonight, Volume 2—A Father’s Lullabies (featuring former Mercury Records artist, Gene Miller). The Dream With Me Tonight series has won a combined 15 music awards. 

The 2006 release from Sandman Records, Turn Up The Music!, features Lanny singing his own 12 fun-filled songs and has already earned 8 children’s music awards. CD #4, I Like Being Me, which again features Lanny as lead and backup vocalist, was released in the Spring of 2007.

Sandman Record’s unique series of children’s CDs has garnered 23 industry awards to date and has become a popular favorite with families and childcare professionals. A portion of Sandman Record’s proceeds benefits numerous nonprofit organizations across the country.

Lanny was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised on the rich and varied musical influences of the 1960s and 1970s. Music has always played an important role in Sherwin’s professional and personal life. He has been a successful staff songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee, owner of the music publishing company, Sherwin Communications, and a founding member of the classic oldies band “Midlife Crisis.” And, as an award-winning magazine publisher in Naples, FL, he has shared the stage with many luminaries including Henry Kissinger, Barbara Walters, Mike Wallace and Thomas Wolfe. Sherwin has been married for 16 years to Holly, an environmental educator, and is the father of Alec (10).
